 Giants Battle Dodgers-Remember 911

By Antoinette Antoinette Carrisosa  9/12/2011
Bay Area Sports Drive

On Sunday September 11th, 2011 the San Francisco Giants once again battled against the L.A. Dodgers, at AT&T Park. Although it was a game of rivalry, they united to remember and honor the victims who tragically lost their lives on September 11th, 2001.

The Giants paid a tribute with an emotional pre-game ceremony commemorating the victims of the 9/11 attacks. Participants included in the ceremony were the San Francisco Fire and Police Department, San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, pilot & flight attendant representatives, and the San Francisco Giants and L.A. Dodgers team. Fans attending the game were given a 9/11 Remembrance card with a name of a victim printed on it at the park entrance.

Sentimental fans patriotically rallied American flags showing pride and support for our country. San Francisco police officers guarded each gate outside the stadium while watching the game. I spoke with SFPD Officer Jordan Oryall who shared his thoughts and feelings about 9/11, “It’s upsetting,” he said. “But it makes you appreciate who and what you have. It’s been ten years and we haven’t had any attacks on American soil since then. I believe our fight against terrorism is going well.” Story >>>>

Bumgarner’s Arm helps Giants win against the Brewers as they win 2-1

San Francisco, Calif – In a 62° sunny Sunday in AT&T Park, the San Francisco Giants took the field to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the final game of this 3-game series. The question coming into the game for the Giants is if they could repeat their offensive display the game before when they won a  4 -2 victory in addition to their bull-pen, who helped them win the game. It was a pitching duel waiting to occur as Giants’ own Madison Bumgarner and Brewers’ own Yovani Galllardo both took the hill as the respective starters for the game.

Unfortunately, Brewers’ own Ryan Braun stepped up to the plate and slams a solo homerun at his first at-bat in the 1st inning.  Last time Bumgarner gave up a homer in the 1st inning, he was rocked with his worst performance as a starter when he gave up 8 runs in the first inning against the Minnesota Twins back in late June.  Bumgarner did not want to re-live that day as he struck out Rickie Weeks to end the inning...Story >>>

The Giants Close the Deal Defeating Rivals

We have to do what we do best and that’s play ball,” –

 Brian Wilson

By  Antoinette Carrisos 4/14/2011

It’s a windy day at AT&T Park with jam packed seats on April 13th, 2011 and the last game for the San Francisco Giants to defeat their rivals, the L.A. Dodgers, before heading out on a 6-game road trip. Giant’s fans hope that they will continue the momentum of last night’s game with the Giants winning 5-4.

Giant’s players are warming up on the field and taking batting practice in the batting cage prior to the game. Outfielder and 2010 MVP Cody Ross is recovering well after straining his right calf in March. Although he is sidelined for tonight’s game, he was seen doing sprints and is confirmed to be on board for the Giants trip to Arizona this weekend. Story >>>

Getting the Gigantes Party Started
"I'm looking forward to that camaraderie...that fire"… Cody "The Boss" Ross

By Antoinette Carrisosa 2/08/2011 Bay Area Sports Drive

The San Francisco Giants held their 18th annual Fan Fest on Saturday, February 5th, 2011 at AT&T Park with over 100,000 fans attending the event. Stadium officials were expecting 40,000 people, but 45,000 showed up at 9 A.M. 50 die hard Giant’s fans with orange and black running through their veins camped outside the stadium entrance overnight and when the gates finally opened at 11 A.M., Giant’s pandemonium began all over again.

The day before the big event, I attended the pre-Fan Fest media session on behalf of Bay Area Sports Drive and had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the biggest rock stars in the MLB. They casually entered the Giant’s executive suite one-by- one appearing refreshed and at ease absent from uniform and gear, but in casual attire. The first thing I asked them was how they spent their off-season. “I spent my time with family, relaxed, and built up my strength for the season,” said (catcher) Buster Posey. Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain claim to have spent their time with family and playing rounds of golf.  Story-Photos... >>>

franchises in Major League Baseball.  Boasting a 129-year history, the
team moved to San Francisco from New York in 1958.  From 1883 to 1957,
the New York Giants won seven World Series Championships with the last
one in 1954.  The 2010 Title represents the Giants first World Series
Championship since moving to San Francisco.  The Giants are pleased to
return to their roots and to share this trophy with their long time fans
in New York.

A GIANT Loss?

By Bay Area Sports Drive Contributor
Sep 15, 2010

On an early Sunday Morning, the Giants received a phone call saying that Outfielder Andres Torres may be out for the rest of the season. Torres was rushed to a San Diego hospital that morning for appendectomy.  Sources say he felt severe pain in his stomach that morning.  After the surgery, the doctors say that Torres won’t be able to play another ball game this season. It takes at least 2 months to fully recover.  Simply this is a big loss to the Giants’ lineup......STORY>>

Lincecum chasing triple history
Photos & Article by Andy Lopusnak of Bay Area Sports Drive

San Francisco Giants star pitcher Tim Lincecum is well on his way to a historical trifecta this season – a back-to-back Cy Young Award, leading the majors in strikeouts for consecutive seasons and 300 strikeouts. He surpassed the 200-strikeout mark against the Dodgers in the team’s 4-2 extra innings win Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 12) when Los Angeles all-star outfielder Manny Ramirez whiffed on third strike.

Lincecum pitched 8 2/3 innings, struck out seven, allowed four hits and two earned runs, but failed to get the decision for the fifth straight time he allowed less than two runs and got little run support. Additionally, he took sat down the lead-off hitter in eight of nine innings and had five 1-2-3 innings.

 Raising Cain

By Andy Lopusnak of Bay Area Sports Drive

July 29, 2009

Tim Lincecum’s biggest competition for earning a back-to-back Cy Young Award isn’t on another National League team, but is one of his teammates in pitcher Matt Cain, who has become the unsung hero in a rotation that features three different Cy Young Award winners: Lincecum, Randy Johnson and Barry Zito. Last season, Cain was 8-14 and was a paltry 15-30 from 2007-08. He wasn't expected to be 12-2 at this point in the season or even an All-Star selection, but he's become one of the game's most dominant pitchers.
