Over a million people crammed the streets and poured out of building windows down Market Street to watch the victory parade for the 2012 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants on an overcast Halloween morning.

The overflowing crowd was estimated to be larger than the one just two years earlier when the Giants won their first World Series title since 1954, four years before the franchise moved from New York to San Francisco....Story and Photo Gallery >>>

2012 Showcases A Memorable Baseball Season

By Barbara Mason 9/05/2012
Bay Area Sports Drive

The champagne has been continuously flowing on both sides of the bay as both the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A’s gave their loyal fans seasons to remember for a long time and we have just finished the regular season.  Both teams now look forward to the post-season with one and only one outcome in mind.

While the Giants had every reason to believe that they would have a very real run to the playoffs the complete opposite was the scenario for the Oakland A’s.  Experts had predicted another miserable season for the A’s and the first three months of the season indicated that this just might be the case. The team trailed by an overwhelming 19 games in June with a lot of ground to make up....Story>>

Zito, Giants less than perfect

Fifteen hours before Barry Zito's first pitch Thursday afternoon against the Houston Astros, his teammate Matt Cain tossed the Giants' first perfect game and just the 22nd in MLB history.

On Zito's second pitch of the game; there'd be no repeat of perfection as Astros 2B Jose Altuve singled to left. Zito escaped the first but was rocked for five runs in the next two frames. The hopes of a shutout ended 22 pitches later as 1B Matt Downs blasted his fourth home run of the year to take a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

In the third, Zito walked three straight batters that set up Houston LF J.D. Martinez for his first career grand slam. Prior to the four-bagger, Martinez was zero of his previous 12 at bats.

Down 5-0, the Giants got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Brandon Belt blasted a two-run homer and pulled within two runs in the sixth, but couldn't score anymore losing 6-3. Zito finished with five runs on five hits in five innings pitched. In the last 11 innings, he's allowed nine runs and 14 hits.

Despite the loss, San Francisco is 12-5 in its last 17 games. The Giants head out for three inter-league series (Seattle, LA Angels and Oakland) before returning home to host the West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers for a three-game series on June 25-26.

SF Giants-Up-Close and Personal with the Biggest Rock Stars in the MLB

Getting the Gigantes Party Started

"I'm looking forward to that camaraderie...that fire"… Cody "The Boss" Ross

By Antoinette Carrisosa 2/08/2011 Bay Area Sports Drive

The San Francisco Giants held their 18th annual Fan Fest on Saturday, February 5th, 2011 at AT&T Park with over 100,000 fans attending the event. Stadium officials were expecting 40,000 people, but 45,000 showed up at 9 A.M. 50 die hard Giant’s fans with orange and black running through their veins camped outside the stadium entrance overnight and when the gates finally opened at 11 A.M., Giant’s pandemonium began all over again.

The day before the big event, I attended the pre-Fan Fest media session on behalf of Bay Area Sports Drive and had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the biggest rock stars in the MLB. They casually entered the Giant’s executive suite one-by- one appearing refreshed and at ease absent from uniform and gear, but in casual attire. The first thing I asked them was how they spent their off-season. “I spent my time with family, relaxed, and built up my strength for the season,” said (catcher) Buster Posey. Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain claim to have spent their time with family and playing rounds of golf.  Story-Photos... >>>

the New York Giants won seven World Series Championships with the last
one in 1954.  The 2010 Title represents the Giants first World Series
Championship since moving to San Francisco.  The Giants are pleased to
return to their roots and to share this trophy with their long time fans

Lincecum chasing triple history

San Francisco Giants star pitcher Tim Lincecum is well on his way to a historical trifecta this season – a back-to-back Cy Young Award, leading the majors in strikeouts for consecutive seasons and 300 strikeouts. He surpassed the 200-strikeout mark against the Dodgers in the team’s 4-2 extra innings win Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 12) when Los Angeles all-star outfielder Manny Ramirez whiffed on third strike.

Lincecum pitched 8 2/3 innings, struck out seven, allowed four hits and two earned runs, but failed to get the decision for the fifth straight time he allowed less than two runs and got little run support. Additionally, he took sat down the lead-off hitter in eight of nine innings and had five 1-2-3 innings.
