If you’re a San Francisco Giant’s fan and are curious about what they have in store for the 2011 season… keep reading. I recently had the opportunity to attend The San Francisco Giants Annual Media Open House, which was held on Thursday, March 24th, 2011 to get the scoop for all you dedicated fans out there.

Giant officials announced their plans in depth with detailed information as to what fans should expect for the upcoming season including a Showtime series, commercial advertising gigs, new ballpark menu items, special events and announcements, as well as a waiting list for 2011 season tickets.

The San Francisco Giants are all about the fans, so this year’s Giants advertising campaign will run a series of television commercials featuring the Giants players.  They humorously become an integral part of their fans lives whether they’re at home, work, going about their daily routines or struggling with personal issues – hence the theme, “Together We’re Giant.” The commercial anthem is narrated by Manager Bruce Bochy. “If you don’t believe that the collective will and sheer desire of 42 thousand beard fear’n, panda hat wear’n, long hair sport’n, rally thong waving fans can change the course of history, then you’ve never been there,” said Bochy with a twinkle in his eye. “Because once you’re inside the ballpark, we’re part of you; and together we’re giant,”  he said.

Because of the player’s world class fun and diverse personalities, Showtime and  Major League Baseball productions along with the San Francisco Giants organization have officially decided to shoot a new documentary series, “The Franchise: A Season with the San Francisco Giants.” A sneak preview is scheduled to air on April 13th at 9:30 PM ET/PT. The one hour series is currently in production and is set to premiere July 13th. The documentary will give fans across the country an inside look into the lives of the players, coaches and team personnel featuring their dedication and commitment in defending their World Series title throughout the 2011 season.

The San Francisco Giants have exceeded their limits for 2011 by selling 27,700 full season tickets, so they have created an On-Deck Wait List enabling fans to secure spots for season tickets as they become available later on. “It’s been quite frankly even beyond our expectations,” said President and Chief Operating Officer, Larry Baer. Fans should visit sfgiants.com if interested in adding themselves to the waiting list.

Some new mouth-watering delicacies have been added to the existing park cuisine.  OK, maybe cuisine is pushing it some but they sure sound tasty.  The ballpark menu now includes Saag’s gluten-free hotdogs, caramel apple fries, Irish nachos, Bavarian pretzel-pastrami and slow cooked pulled pork sandwiches just to name a few.

The World Series Champions will return from Scottsdale, Arizona to play two home exhibition games against the Oakland A’s starting on Monday, March 28th. The regular season is scheduled to begin in L.A. on Thursday, March 31st against the rival  Dodgers.  On Friday, April 8th, the Giants will return to San Francisco for the home opener against St. Louis, where they will raise the World Series Champion flag. The team will also receive their World Series rings on Saturday, April 9th, and Buster Posey will be honored receiving his Rookie of the Year award on Sunday, April 10th. The first 20,000 fans will receive commemorative gifts during the opening week.

“We’re completely grateful and overwhelmed by the response of the fans,” said Larry  Baer. SF Giants’ officials are genuinely excited to share the changes for the upcoming season with the fans.  They know that the San Francisco Giants will stop at nothing to bring back another World Series title to the Bay Area. Along with the incredible fan base here and across the nation to support them, this group of talented, diverse and colorful athletes definitely have the winning formula for yet another run.
