The San Jose SaberCats wasted no time getting up on the scoreboard as they took on the Jacksonville Sharks Saturday night.  Playing on the road San Jose scored on their first play of the game when quarterback Russ Michna found Huey Whittaker deep downfield for the score.  After one possession in the opening quarter for each of the teams the score was 6-6 when both extra point attempts failed.  This would be a battle of two very good football teams.  On San Jose’s second drive of the first quarter they very nearly scored on the first play of that possession.  Two plays later they did score to take the lead 13-6 and the SaberCats were off to a fast start. Coming away with their first stop of the game San Jose extended their lead, when Nich Pertuit kicked a 22 yard field goal, the score now 16-6 as the quarter came to an end................ STORY>>
