Saturday night the San Jose SaberCats took on the Orlando Predators at HP Pavilion in their quest for the final playoff spot.  They currently sit a single game behind division rivals the Spokane Shock and the Utah Blaze.  After a sparkling performance last week breaking the Jacksonville Sharks 13 game winning streak, San Jose hoped to duplicate that performance and win a second game in a row.  Story >>>

SaberCats Snap Jacksonville Winning Streak
“We got embarrassed last week,”-----Head Coach Darren Arbet

Winning streaks are meant to be broken and losing streaks eventually come to an end.  That was the situation that the San Jose SaberCats faced as they took on the seemingly unbeatable Jacksonville Sharks at HP Pavilion Friday night.  The Sharks came into this game on a 13 game winning streak while the SaberCats have been struggling losing their last seven games.  With a 5-9 season record, sitting in the basement of their division is something that San Jose is not accustomed to.  Prior to the collapse of the then existing league, the SaberCats dominated not only their division but also the playoffs winning three Arena Bowl championships....Story>>

SaberCats Drop Fourth In a Row

Coming off three losses in a row the San Jose SaberCats now see their season on the line.  Saturday night San Jose (5-5) took on the Georgia Force (5-5) hoping to get back on track.  The team has not won since April 22 when they beat the Philadelphia Soul 68-61 and if they are at all playoff minded a turnaround needed to begin with Saturday nights’ contest.  The SaberCat defense needs to step up to the plate and contribute, with performances that have thus far been spotty at best. Turnovers Beat San Jose SaberCats
“We just need to grow, we’re young,”---Head Coach Darren Arbet

Saturday evening the San Jose SaberCats hosted the rival Arizona Rattlers in their 20th all-time regular season match-up.  This is the first meeting of the 2011 season for these two teams as San Jose attempted to hand the Rattlers their second loss of the season.

The red-hot Rattlers struck first scoring a touchdown on their first snap of the game to take a 7-0 lead.  The SaberCats also cashed in on their first possession but missed the extra point attempt.  Arizona quickly scored on their second drive and it was not hard to see why this team has a nearly perfect record.  Their only loss this season was to the defending champion Shock by a single point, 70-69.  Mid-way through the first quarter Arizona had taken a 14-6 lead.  Story-Photos >>>
