On Saturday, May 29, 2010, Bay Area Sports Drive & Entertainment (www.bayareasportsdrive.com) covered the FanimeCon anime special event down town San Jose California at the McEnery Convention Center. It was Mecca for thousands of a diversified crowd from across the globe. They traveled far and near from Tokyo, Australia, Hawaii, Minnesota, Utah, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and beyond. BASD had the opportunity to converse with Anime die-hards who downed their favorite character costumes.

We caught up with Reina ( top left ) from Oakland Ca. dressed in green as “B orchid Killer Instinct” from the 90’s Super Nintendo game. BASD asked her why her favorite character? Reina replied, “Because I love her moves. Turning her victims comatose and into frogs.”

We also caught up with another fanatic Brenda( middle left ) from Los Angeles California. Brenda attends Cal State at Fullerton Ca. Attire with turquoise hair in pink with silver wristband blades ready for action. “I’m dressed in a Shuya Yamashita outfit who is a professional illustrator and character designer well known for video games and character designs.  I really like his art and thought it would look really cool”, said Brenda.  Brenda made her own outfit after her break from college finals. “It took a week, non-stop”, said Brenda. That’s how dedicated these fans are.

She stood out in the crowd dawning black with perched wings that shadowed over the sun bringing darkness about. Sandy
( left bottom ) is from San Carlos California dressed as Father Abel Nightroad, who is a priest and vampire. “I really like the combination (priest and vampire), It’s a perfect combo,” said Sandy. Sandy made her own outfit that literally took her five months.

The FANIMECON downtown San Jose Ca. is from May 28-31, 2010. It’s an eye-popping weekend of fantasy-animated characters that come to life. Bring the garlic just in case you run into the reaper Father Abel Night Road.

When you go night-night for the night, make sure your windows are closed and locked.  However, remember, there is evil and good with the characters (not those dressed as the charcters-just fantasy) that bring magic to life at FANIMECON. Then there are the super warriors that fight to save the world FOR YOU. A fantasy comes true?
