Bumgarner’s Arm helps Giants win against the Brewers as they win 2-1

San Francisco, Calif – In a 62° sunny Sunday in AT&T Park, the San Francisco Giants took the field to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the final game of this 3-game series. The question coming into the game for the Giants is if they could repeat their offensive display the game before when they won a  4 -2 victory in addition to their bull-pen, who helped them win the game. It was a pitching duel waiting to occur as Giants’ own Madison Bumgarner and Brewers’ own Yovani Galllardo both took the hill as the respective starters for the game.

Unfortunately, Brewers’ own Ryan Braun stepped up to the plate and slams a solo homerun at his first at-bat in the 1st inning.  Last time Bumgarner gave up a homer in the 1st inning, he was rocked with his worst performance as a starter when he gave up 8 runs in the first inning against the Minnesota Twins back in late June.  Bumgarner did not want to re-live that day as he struck out Rickie Weeks to end the inning.

The Giants tied the game in the 3rd inning as Bumgarner scored on Keppinger’s single through the hole at shortstop.  Giants added one more run in the next inning as Mike Fontenot executed a sacrifice fly resulting Schierholtz to score giving the Giants a 2 – 1 lead.

The score would remain the same till the ninth inning as one the leagues best closer Brian Wilson looked to finish the game. As Wilson took the hill, he was to face a familiar face that he played with in the 2011 MLB All-Star game, Brewers’ own slugger Prince Fielder.

Everyone expected a great fight from Fielder but, Wilson ousted him out as he struck him out looking. Milwaukee’s Yuniesky Betancourt stepped in the batters box looking to tie the game and give the Brewers some hope with 2 outs left.

In dramatic Giants style, Wilson strikes Betancourt out resulting in a comeback win from the Giants recording this win as the 29th comeback win of the season.  Madison Bumgarner responded from the homerun he gave up in the first inning as he did not allow any earned runs throughout the whole game.

Bumgarner earned his 6th win of the season as he pitched 7 ⅔ innings, struck out 8, giving up 8 hits, no walks, and giving up only one run off of the Braun HR.

The Giants look to continue their winning ways as they face the league’s best team, with the league’s best record, the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.

The Giants’ ace Tim Lincecum (8 – 8, 2.90) takes the mound on Tuesday facing off Phillies’ own Vance Worley (6 – 1, 2.02)
