All Star Cast of Team Players
Anxious Giants fans everywhere anticipate the first NLCS game against the Philadelphia Phillies taking place at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia on October 16th, 2010. Although the Phillies won the World Series in 2008, the San Francisco Giants prove to be anything but “the underdogs”. The Giants enter Phillie home turf with an utter streak of confidence, and fans get a sense that they just may own this game. They suddenly had an all star cast of team players upon themselves who played remarkably well. This game is especially exciting because two well known fan favorite’s, Giants starting pitcher, Tim Lincecum, throws against the Phillies starting pitcher, Roy Halladay, Tim “The Freak” Lincecum, notorious for his 100 mph pitch, takes the mound with team mate starting catcher, Buster Posey, the fearless old soul showing “The Freak” he has his back. Philly hitters appear somewhat intimidated being caught between the two star athletes who are considered to be the best of the best. Giants fans receive a shocking surprise when unknown Giants outfielder, Cody Ross, hits the first home run of the game in the second inning, and then hitting another one in the fifth earning him the title “MVP of the playoffs”. It’s the first time any player has hit two home runs in a post-season game since former Giants second baseman, Jeff Kent, did it in the 5th game of the 2002 World Series against the Angels. The Giants lead 4-3 heading into the 8th inning, and once again Lincecum comes out on top defeating Hallaway. At the bottom of the 8th Javier Lopez is now pitching for the Giants striking out two hitters before a double switch with Bryan “The Beard” Wilson taking the stand striking out the third Philly hitter. Moving into the 9th inning Giants fans are counting on Wilson to strike out the Phillies hoping they won’t tie…..and he does it! Game one of the NLCS playoffs belongs to the Giants taking a 4-3 victory. The Giants have six more games to play against the Phillies, and already things are looking up for them as they continue to walk tall towards the 2010 World Series win.
