Sunday the 49ers overcame adversity from a very shaky start
of the season of five loses. To firing coaches, injuries, a possible game
away from a QB change… nerveless, Alex Smith opened eyes
for the scarlet red & gold for this victory today at Candlestick vs. the
Silver & Black 17-9 for a battle of the Bay game for bragging rights.
The 49ers ranked 31st in the league. San Francisco has lost three tight games this season by a margin of 3 points or less.
However, week one vs. Seattle a loss of 31-6, week 3 vs. KC 31-3 were the only two huge losses point wise. However,
without a “W” does not put a team on a positive ranking within a division. Offensively the 49ers are struggling with
Alex Smith whom many have waited for the prince on the shinny horse to save a season for playoff hopes. Nevertheless,
on this day, the prince arrived to bring victory amongst his foe. Coach Singletary commented
on the low score but was content for the win. "Well, I don't know about the low-scoring game. The bottom line is if you don't
turn the ball over and play good defense then you're going to have a chance to win the football game."
As we know, all teams need a good offensive line for QB protection. Alex Smith is the battery charger and the O-line is the
At the beginning of the game, there were some 49er break downs. "Well, I think early on - the offensive line, actually when I
look at the film, our offensive line did a pretty good job the whole game,” said Singletary. “I just think that we had in mind,
in the offensive plan, was to get some rollouts, to get somebootlegs, things like that, to make sure that they knew that they had to respect it
because Alex would still have the ball.” Alex Smith finished with 196 yards, (16-33 w 2TD’s) Crabtree with
Frank Gore was a Raider nightmare. Gore bust threw the Oakland defensive line and through the secondary. Gore had great run
for 64 yards and a day’s work of a total of 149 yards.
Last week the Oakland Raiders just came off a game feeling
good about them selves after defeating the SD Chargers 35-27. It was an
attack on the rushing side of the ball for 104 yards
and Cambell’s ability to scramble but only threw for
159 yards. On this Sunday, the 49ers shut down QB Campbell for only 83
passing yards and the rushing game for a low 59 yards.
Next
week the 49ers take on the Denver Broncos followed by a Bye.

Injury factor: [CB] Nate Clements had a leg
contusion; day-to-day kind of thing. [LB] Manny Lawson, rib contusion,
day-to-day as well.
[WR]
Josh Morgan, thigh contusion. [LB] Parys [Haralson] had a calf bruise.
[TE]
Vernon [Davis], knee. He'll have an MRI later. I think [DT] Justin Smith
had a cut on his hand. He should be fine as well.
