Season

The champagne has been
continuously flowing on both sides of the bay as both the San Francisco
Giants and the Oakland A’s gave their loyal fans seasons to remember for a
long time and we have just finished the regular season. Both teams now
look forward to the post-season with one and only one outcome in mind.
While the Giants had every reason
to believe that they would have a very real run to the playoffs the
complete opposite was the scenario for the Oakland A’s. Experts had
predicted another miserable season for the A’s and the first three months
of the season indicated that this just might be the case. The team trailed
by an overwhelming 19 games in June with a lot of ground to make up...............Story>>

Andre “S.O.G” Ward (26-0, 14 KOs) of Oakland, California, the reigning WBA and
WBC super middleweight champion (168), tends to accept unusual challenges
regarding his opponents. Last night was a great example of that.
Ward faced off against “Bad” Chad Dawson (31-2, 17 KOs) of New Haven, CT who is
the current WBC light heavyweight
champion (175). The contract weight was 168 and only Ward’s title belts
were on the line for this special fight broadcast on HBO.... Story>>
UFC on FUEL 4: Munoz vs. Weidman
A New Contender for Anderson Silva Emerges

The main event of UFC on FUEL 4
pitted Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine”
Munoz (12-3) of Vallejo, CA
against undefeated Chris Weidman (9-0) of Baldwin, NY. Munoz is a top-ranked
middleweight and Weidman is seen as an up-and-coming prospect. The talk
before the fight was that if Munoz won, he was likely to get a title shot
against Anderson Silva who is the current Middleweight champ. The feeling was
that if Weidman was able to get the victory, he would be looking at bigger
paydays but probably not an immediate fight for the title.........STORY>>>
Blues Have the Sharks Right Where They Want Them

The stage had been set, the lines drawn. The San Jose
Sharks needed a win Thursday night as they took on the St. Louis Blues at HP
Pavilion in Game 4. Trailing 2-1 the Sharks did not want to dig a deeper
hole as they travel back to St. Louis for Game 5 Saturday night. San Jose
has had a tough time handling the Blues; their speed, their defense, and
their power play which has turned up 5 goals in this series.
San Jose’s power kill had been less than
stellar and with line changes for Thursday’s game there was hope for a
more level playing field..................

Sharks Drop Game Three
to St. Louis

Being the underdog does not faze Dan Boyle and teammates in the least.
In fact it doesn’t make a bit of difference one way or the other to
the team. The goal for the San Jose Sharks is simple in concept;
every line contributes and the leaders who make up the first line lead
the charge. This is a very different role for the Sharks who in
years past have come into the playoffs as a favorite. This
season they finished in the seventh spot and they had to claw their
way into that position. Coming back home to HP Pavilion San Jose was
tied with the St. Louis Blues, the second seed, taking one game on the
road in St. Louis. The Blues hope to return the favor in a
highly-tempered series. The Sharks made it known in game two
that, despite losing that game, they wouldn’t be pushed
around..............Story>>>>

Loss to New England Does
Not Define Oakland
“They did a good job and we didn’t.”--
Head Coach Hue Jackson

And those challenges just keep on coming, each of them tougher than the
last one. They started off with the Denver Broncos, followed by the
Bills, the Jets and now; the ultimate showdown with the New England
Patriots. It’s a tough road for the Oakland Raiders. The Silver and Black
have more than proven that they are armed and ready for all of them!
Sunday’s game was played under absolute
perfect game day conditions; a balmy 75 degrees under blues skies and yet
another sell-out for Oakland. When the Patriots come to town ghosts
from the past always seem to linger making for the absolute rivalry
shootout ...................

Raiders
Come From Behind to Defeat the Jets
“We’re not
perfect yet, but we’re working at
it,”--Raider Head Coach Hue Jackson

It felt
like shades of the good old days; Raiders
selling out, fans jockeying for position
to access the parking lot and excitement,
lots of excitement for the upcoming
season. Losses in the pre-season
enabled coaches and team to put together a
system that looked good against the Denver
Broncos as well as the Buffalo Bills, a
game that should have given Oakland their
second win of the season. Sunday’s
game against Mark Sanchez and the New York
Jets would be a tall order but one that
the Raiders could definitely pull off ...................
